Privacy Policy

Effective August 10, 2026

PickleCheck ("PickleCheck," "we," "us," or "our") helps pickleball players discover courts, see current court activity, and check in when they are near a court. This policy explains what information PickleCheck collects, why we use it, and the choices available to you.

Information we collect

Account and profile information

When you create an account, we collect your email address, username, nickname, and authentication information. Passwords are processed using secure password hashing and are not stored as readable text. You may optionally provide your first name, last name, DUPR rating, biography, or profile photo, and you control supported visibility settings.

Location information

PickleCheck requests precise location only when needed for a feature you initiate, such as checking in or submitting a crowd report. We use it to confirm that you are near the selected court and to calculate your distance from that court. PickleCheck does not continuously track your location and does not request background-location access.

Check-in and crowd-report records may include the coordinates supplied by your device, reported GPS accuracy, distance from the court, and the associated time and court.

App activity and community content

We collect information needed to operate PickleCheck, including check-ins and check-outs, active-session times, Home Court and favorite-court selections, crowd estimates, submitted pickleball locations, and account preferences.

Technical information

Our hosting providers may process technical records such as IP address, request time, device or operating-system information, application errors, and security logs to operate, protect, and troubleshoot the service.

How we use information

Information visible to other users

Your nickname is the default identity displayed in PickleCheck. Depending on your settings, other users may also see your selected real-name information and DUPR rating. While checked in, other users may see that you are playing at a particular court and related session information. We do not publicly display the precise GPS coordinates reported by your device.

Service providers and disclosure

We use service providers to operate PickleCheck, including Microsoft Azure for API hosting, database storage, security logging, and account email delivery, and Apple and Expo services for application building, testing, and distribution. These providers process information on our behalf under their applicable terms and privacy protections.

We may disclose information when required by law, to protect users or the service, to investigate fraud or security incidents, or as part of a business transfer. PickleCheck does not sell personal information and does not use personal information for cross-app behavioral advertising.

Retention

We retain account and app information while your account is active and as reasonably necessary to operate and secure PickleCheck. Some security, transaction, backup, or legal records may remain for a limited period after deletion when required for legitimate security, backup, fraud-prevention, or legal purposes.

Your choices and account deletion

You can change supported profile visibility settings in the app and can deny location permission through your device settings. Features requiring proximity verification will not work without location permission.

You may permanently delete your account inside PickleCheck by opening Profile, selecting Delete Account, entering your password, and confirming deletion. This removes your account, profile, saved-court relationships, check-in records, and crowd reports from the active service. Submitted court records may remain after being disassociated from your account so the community court directory can continue to function.

Security

We use administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect personal information. No storage or transmission system can be guaranteed to be completely secure.

Children

PickleCheck is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child provided personal information, contact us so we can investigate and take appropriate action.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as PickleCheck changes. We will post the updated policy here and revise the effective date. Material changes may also be communicated through the app or another appropriate method.
